History of Academy
The Karate Academy of Oman was established in January 2015. The academy emerged from the Nizwa Karate team, which was established in 1997 under the leadership of national coach Said Bin Hamad Al Hashami of the Nizwa State and assisted by his brother Ibrahim Al Hashami. The Academy has thus become a formal and restricted private entity subject to the regulations of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. The Academy is expanding to cover the Sultanate through a partnership between the Sultanate’s public clubs and schools and private centers spread throughout the Sultanate.
The Karate Academy of Oman has received official authorization from the Japan Karate Association (JKA) and is authorized to carry out the required tests from Kyo and Dan with official certificates from JKA in Tokyo. The Academy therefore draws technical support from the JKA and strictly follows the Shotokan School. The project of the Omani Academy of Karate is to raise the cognitive aspect in the martial arts through a group of Omani cadres prepared and experienced in this field through accumulated experience and international participations that help to benefit from its academic achievements in international forums.
